Patricia Lohan 1:58
You’re very welcome. I’m delighted to be here with you.

Sarah E. Brown 2:01
So what is the biggest challenge you help female leaders face today and what might be the symptoms of that challenge?

Patricia Lohan 2:08
So the biggest challenge that I help female leaders address is moving to the next level. So a lot of the women who would come into my world will have done a lot of work. They’ve, you know, got all the degrees, all the certifications, like all the qualifications, and they’ve also been doing a lot of the personal development work as well. So they’ve been looking internally at what can be blocking them or holding them back from the level of success that they know that they are here to create, but also to achieve and change and impact they’re meant to create. So they can feel like they’re hitting against some kind of invisible glass ceiling, feeling a little bit frustrated, and really that anxiety going like, “What else can I work with? What else can I do to move to the next level?”

Sarah E. Brown 2:58
Ah, and what are the biggest mistakes they make before working with you?

Patricia Lohan 3:03
So the thing is, they’re not actually really making a mistake. I think that one of the things that happen is that we underestimate or we don’t realize the impact that our physical environment, our home, our office, our workspace is actually having on us. So it’s a little bit of like, you don’t know what you don’t know until you do know, and that’s the case when people come across me. They’re like, “Wow! My home could be sabotaging my career? It could be sabotaging my bank account, my relationships?” And I’m like, “Yes, it can.” And that’s often what happens when clients come to me and I work on their homes and look at what’s going on energetically in their home. And I’m like, “Well, the reason you haven’t increased up the ladder in your career is because of this. The reason that you haven’t called in this love relationship is because of this. And this is how you fix it.” So we’re looking at things from a very different perspective, then most of the time that they’ll be looking at. So it’s not through a therapist or talk therapy or a coach. We’re really just looking at the energetics of the physical home and workspace.

Sarah E. Brown 4:07
Ah, I see. So what’s the number one free and actionable tip you can give them to address this challenge now?

Patricia Lohan 4:14
The very first thing I would say to you is to literally, first of all, just connect to the home and imagine your home and just say- tune in and just ask the question, “Do my spirits rise or fall when I come into my home? Into my office? Into my workspace?” And that can be a little bit of an indicator. Also looking back on what this kind of story has been since you moved into the space, like what has happened and what hasn’t happened. And then once you get to that place, I would say to you then, you know, especially as a career woman, an entrepreneur, someone that wants to move to the next level, look at your actual workspace. You know, look at that space and see what’s in it that is lining up where I want to go and have it set up.

Sarah E. Brown 4:58
So what is a valuable free resource you can share with the women who are listening today to help them understand this challenge better?

Patricia Lohan 5:06
So the very first free resource I would like to support the listeners with is on my website, it’s at patricialohan.com/office or you can just go to patricialohan.com, and it is a guide to teach you how to Feng Shui your office. Now, 99% of the time, I don’t care where most people’s furniture is. Feng Shui is all about the energy and the actual- the invisible energy of the home, but it is absolutely vital to set up your office space in a place where you are set up in your power position, and that’s what that guide will teach you about what you should have in your office, what you shouldn’t have in your office, how to optimize it and set yourself up for success.

Sarah E. Brown 5:49
Terrific! Well, as soon as I get off this call, you know where I’m going? So Patricia, what is one question that I should have asked you that will help our audience today take action to address this challenge, and then would you please answer the question?

Patricia Lohan 6:05
The question is, what is Feng Shui? And I think that actually, for me, I like to describe Feng Shui as acupuncture for your home. And sometimes it can be one of these things that people are a little bit nervous about, that I’m going to come in and tell them that everything is in the wrong place, you have to clear everything else, you have to move house, and it’s not like that at all. Literally, you know, the acupuncturist takes the kind of energy raging and decides, “Okay, I need- this is how I need to treat it.” And this is how I work with homes and energetically bring them into balance. Every single part of your home, and your office is basically mirroring back a different part of your life, and it’s impacting you whether you know it or not. And there’s an absolutely beautiful potency and power when we actually activate the energy of our homes to support us.

Sarah E. Brown 6:54
Oh, very cool. Very cool! I love that analogy of the acupuncture. So Patricia, thank you so much for being with me today.

Patricia Lohan 7:04
You’re very welcome.
